George opened with remarks noting the passing of Michael Pachuta. Michael was a long time Member of Worldprofit’s home business community, he volunteered many hours as a Monitor. His unique sense of humour endeared him to so many of us. Our hearts are heavy at news of his loss, he will be missed. A special memorial to honour Michael’s life will be hosted by Dr. Jeffrey Lant and held after the holidays. Date and time to be announced.

Author’s program note. Boy, am I ever frosted, which is a good Illinois word for ticked off, miffed, mad, mad, mad. This is the problem. All day, every day (because we never close) people worldwide enter our Worldprofit Live Business Center and confirm (because we ask them) that they are present not to buy a new car, not to unclog the kitchen sink, not to book a pilgrimage to Graceland but to learn how to make an online income from home RIGHT NOW. The drill goes something like this:

"Hello, MaryLou, I understand you want to make money working from home on the Internet. Is that so?"

"Yessir, it is."

"Do you have the $99.95 it will take to get started?" You see, pure-as-the-driven-snow MaryLou is about to tell a lie… a whopper she doesn’t need to tell… which does her no good…. and which shrouds the process of business instead of fostering it.

"No sir, I surely don’t."

At this moment MaryLou jumps up on a convenient table top, the better to be seen as she honky-tonks one of the most popular songs every written, a ballad for les miserables all over the world.

The music is by Spencer Williams; lyrics by Roger Graham. It was first recorded in 1915 and was a hit at once, so much so that dozens of major recording artists finagled to have a go at it. The song is "I Ain’t Got Nobody", and you can find it in any search engine. Go now and pick the rendition you like. Select the one that is most maudlin, pathetic, affecting. Then belt it out in "Boardwalk Empire" fashion; that version full of lamentation; too many cold and lonely mornings after too many bumpy nights before, misery and woe; the one sultry chanteuse Patti Smith was born to make her own.

"I ain’t got nobody/ Nobody cares for me/nobody, nobody cares for me."

"Perambulating around the margins of veracity."

MaryLou fibbed, lied, dissembled, bluffed, deceived, equivocated, exaggerated, fabricated, invented, embroidered, falsified, fictionalized, humbugged and, in case you missed the point, beat truth to death with every flutter of her severely over painted eyebrows. As Frank Sinatra would have said, "That’s why the lady is a tramp." It’s also why she’ll never be an online marketing success.

MaryLou had the $99.95 alright. What she didn’t have was any sense. You see, she needed to keep the doop open… her mind open… her eyes open… but instead she lied, which was a helluva way to start interacting with the good people who were there to help her… and the rest of the world. We’re going to need a flow chart here because once she lied, she was going to have to overcome that lie before she could join and profit. Because "profit" was what she wanted and what she put into such severe jeopardy when she told the lie that should have been strangled before utterance.

"Well, MaryLou, that’s most unfortunate because we have everything you need to profit online. Indeed, you could start making money TODAY!"

Hmm. MaryLou is now interested, because she’s been looking high and low and has found nothing but marauders and rapacious scamsters. But now, perhaps because there’s a real, live person on screen helping her, she begins to perceive that this place is different, humane, a place where colleagues could meet, exchange information, make friends and DO BUSINESS. Only she has lied to the monitor on the screen (remember, when she didn’t have to)… and now she has to overcome that disadvantage before any good things can be given and enjoyed. The lie that MaryLou deemed necessary only a moment or two before now is exposed for the insult it really is.

"I don’t lie."

"MaryLou may lie, you say. But I never do." Really?

My exhaustive research going back not months or even years but decades comes to a very different conclusion. Fully 99% of prospects to the Live Business Center when asked if they have $99.95 say they don’t. 99%! Now you know and I know that’s a whopper. Yet it is the opening gambit used by virtually every single prospect; all people who claim they are entrepreneurs, want a home-based business, and will do whatever it takes to make it happen and make it profitable. Everything but tell the truth, the truth that is essential to understanding and doing business, for that is the first casualty here.

The Internet: nirvana for liars.

I am one of the few people you will ever meet who was actually one of the very first people to go online to do business. As such, I am something of a museum piece. For those of you johnny come latelies I’d like to take a second or two to tell you what the ‘net was like in those days of yore when men were men and the sheep were scared.

First of all the ‘net was small. Second it was populated by zealots, geeks and ultra- nerds who were glad to be there and who was glad to shake your hand and get acquainted There was no face… no posturing… just a place where everyone was a pioneer, and they were glad to know you, thankee, ma’am, aw shucks.

There was no side, no arrogant swaggering, and a whole lot fewer lies than today. It was a better place, populated by the best of people, people like the two eminent worthies George Kosch and Sandi Hunter, who became my friends and who then asked if I’d like to conquer the world with them. We shook hands and got down to business. It was 1993, the world was our oyster and if we’d encountered MaryLou in those days, she would have been down-home friendly, glad to see us, sit down and tell us all about it. There was friendliness, honor, integrity, and a bushel full of good humor and happy memories for life. Oh, yes, AND the MONEY… which was plentiful, so easy to make, I became a multi-millionaire in record time.

Almost all of that is gone now, kind of like when you take down the Christmas tree and remove it from the living room, a few fragrant needles all over the floor, reminding you of the good times you had… and how you wished they remained forever. Nowadays things are different, needlessly frustrating, too many people both arrogant and rude. And to think we did this, are doing this to ourselves; that is the most painful part of all.

What you must do to start making money from home TODAY, yes TODAY!

1) Resolve to stop lying online today; that you will give your real name,real email address, telephone number, etc.

1. We’ve just released two new landing pages in the landing page builder area. As you will recall we introduced the FREE Landing Page Builder two weeks ago. Now we have added new options to the Gallery.

In your Worldprofit member area on Top menu, click on Website Management then Landing Page Builder. You can use number 11 or 12 depending on the box design you like to create a custom background landing page. When you create the page it will load one that we have stored on dropbox. Be sure to check out the help video on that page if you have trouble. Enjoy!

2. We’ve released the Sales graphics creator software powered by ONLY your browser.

Creating graphics is a real pain in the butt for most marketers who have no graphic design experience. Recognizing this we decided to provide Worldprofit members with an easy tool for creating headlines, copy, bullets, buttons, and more. We had to look long and hard for a product that would meet the needs of our members. It had to be easy to use, and quick to use, what we have provided is going to make you happy. We know it.

How To Pick a Legitimate Home Business Opportunity

You’ve seen the emails, the offers, the promises and the claims. Everyone it seems has a way to help you make money online.

But how do you know who you can trust? How do you know what system works? How do you protect yourself?

The fact is that you CAN earn money online from legitimate sources, here’s what to look for when picking an online business opportunity.

Products or Services with actual value

Many companies including large companies like Amazon and ClickBank offer what is known as an Affiliate marketing program, or sometimes called a Reseller program. This allows you to promote a company’s products or services and earn a commission when a sale is made through your website link. The key in knowing what is legitimate is to be sure you are actually promoting a real product, or a digital product, or an actually service. Beware of selling anything that seems without substance, and has no real market value. An example of something suspect would be getting paid to recruit people into a program who have not paid any money to do so. All business online and off works when there is an exchange of money for a product or service. Pyramid schemes exist online and off and are an example of focus on recruitment into a program rather then the sale of an actual product. In the case of a pyramid scheme, and example is someone paying to join a program but receives no product or service of REAL value in return. In short, make sure that you are actually selling something of value.

Customer Service and Support

Legitimate companies that sell actual products and services will support or service what they sell. In other words, good companies will have a Customer Support Department, or a Service Department or Technical Support division to assist customers who have either bought a product or intend to do so. Reputable companies offer this support in any number of ways, online chat, support forums, Twitter, Facebook, telephone support, or online support.

Time in business

Legitimate ONLINE business opportunities most trustworthy are often those that have stood the test of time. On the web it is very easy to set up a company, sell questionable products and services, then disappear into the night when the business practices come into question. When picking an online business opportunity select a company that has been around for at least a few years. Companies that continue to exist are usually those that demonstrate an interest in keeping their customers happy, are accountable, and adhere to policy and legislation that permits them to provide a product or service.

Reputation

When picking a reputable business opportunity people will often look to review sites for feedback from others. This can offer you some interesting details about what people think about a company and how the company responds to complaints. In reading the reviews though keep an open mind knowing that no company exists without complaints against it. Good companies that you would want to associate with, are those that try to address customer complaints or resolve issues brought to their attention. People with an axe to grind will sometime post negative reviews and hide in the anonymity of that post. So be smart when reading review sites, and look for dates, patterns or themes and try to separate the intelligent comments from the less helpful and questionable ones.

Look before you leap

When you decide on which business opportunity you wish to join, be sure to take your time and read over what you are agreeing to before you sign on the dotted line or hit the submit button. Determine what your up front cost is, your monthly cost (if any), your ongoing cost? What happens if you want to cancel, is there a guarantee, or is there any long term obligation or a penalty for cancelling? Find out how your sales will be tracked, how often will you paid, for which services and how will you be paid.

In summary, here are 5 questions to ask yourself for any company you are considering for a home business opportunity.

1. How long has the company been in business? What is their reputation?

2. What is the product or service you will be selling? What is the value in the market place? There should ALWAYS be a product or service being sold.

3. What is the initial cost to get started in the business? What do you get for that amount of money? What are the ongoing costs?

4. What kind of support or service will you receive as an Affiliate Marketer or Reseller for the company to help you make sales? What kind of support of service will the people you refer receive when they make a purchase?

5. How much money are you paid by this company when you make a sale, how often, and how will your sales be tracked?

These questions and information contained within are a guideline to help you make a smart decision about an online business opportunity that is right for you.

One final bit of advise. Once you have found a company to represent be sure to be realistic about your earnings and accept some responsibility for your own success. At the end of the day, your success comes down to you, and your efforts. It won’t matter what business opportunity you select if you don’t take the time to learn about the program, learn how to market online, and make an honest consistent effort to build your own success.
